Bon Secours Hernia Center at Mary Immaculate

Over 5 million people in the United States annually are treated for a hernia. The residents of Hampton Roads are fortunate to have the Bon Secours Hernia Center at Mary Immaculate and its comprehensive program dedicated solely to treating hernias

Led by Steven B. Hopson, MD, the Bon Secours Hernia Center specializes in developing hernia treatments based on each patient’s individual needs using the newest innovations including lightweight, high-strength meshes that are custom-tailored for each patient to create tension-free hernia repairs. Surgery to repair a hernia can be uncomfortable, but lightweight mesh is more flexible and fits the contours of the body. Our team employs lightweight mesh to minimize tension, which means that our patients are often able to leave the hospital within 24 hours of surgery. In addition, our Hernia Center performs many of its procedures using state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques that result in smaller incisions, fewer stitches, less pain, and much faster recoveries.

If you’ve been diagnosed with a hernia, we invite you to learn more about our program. For more information, please call: (757) 886-6700 or toll free (800) 889-3627.
