"I really saw the spirit of Christmas in action"

Ten managers from Maryview Nursing Care Center provided lunch for volunteers at the Suffolk Salvation Army. After lunch, the managers helped families select age appropriate gifts for their children, gathering toys and food for the needy families.

"I really saw the spirit of Christmas in action," said Teresa Cooper one of the MNCC Nurse Manager volunteers. Another volunteer, Katherine Strickland said, "I saw people who really appreciated the help they received. I’m looking forward to volunteering next year as well.” The project was coordinated by Evelyn Harris, Food Services Director, who, with the aid of Westminster Reformed Presbyterian Church, provides approximately 150 meals for the homeless every other month from October to June at the Salvation Army Headquarters in Suffolk, VA.
