"There was a strong smell of gasoline..."
In February, Sam Branch, a surgical tech at Bon Secours Maryview had the opportunity to show “good help” when a high school girl was involved in a horrific automobile accident. Sam came up on the accident and he immediately stopped. He quickly triaged the situation and because of the strong smell of gasoline, worked with others to move the critically injured girl away from a potential explosion site to safety. He then comforted the young girl, and ensured that she stayed warm until the emergency medical team arrived.
Sam called the girl's mother and offered assurance that she would be OK and even called her mother again to inform her that she was safely in the ambulance and on her way to the local trauma center. Sam is a shining example of the mission that Maryview strives to deliver.
